Public displays of affection are generally accepted in France, and couples commonly hold hands, kiss, or sit close together in public without drawing much attention. Very overt or loud behavior can still feel out of place, but a quick kiss on the cheek or a brief embrace is usually seen as normal rather than inappropriate.
