Tipping Etiquette in Ecuador

Tipping in Ecuador is modest and usually optional: in restaurants a 10% service charge is often already included, and if it is not, leaving a small extra amount for good service is appreciated but not expected. For taxis, hotels, and casual services, rounding up or giving a little extra is common rather than following a fixed tipping rule, and locals generally do not treat tipping as obligatory.
