Public life is still fairly traditional, so men are often expected to be assertive and women may be judged more on modesty and family roles, especially outside the main tourist areas. In cities and resorts you will see more flexibility, but older generations and some workplaces can still be conservative about dress, flirting, and who speaks first in mixed-gender settings.
