Public displays of affection are generally accepted in Croatia, especially among younger people and in cities, so holding hands, hugging, or a quick kiss is usually unremarkable. Very overt or prolonged affection is still best kept modest in smaller towns, family settings, or more traditional settings, where people tend to be a bit more reserved.
