Dress modestly and, in formal or official settings, expect traditional Bhutanese clothing to be the norm: men wear the
gho and women wear the
kira, often with a scarf for ceremonies or government visits. In towns and tourist areas Western clothes are fine, but revealing outfits are frowned on in monasteries, dzongs, and during religious festivals.
