Swearing Etiquette in Bahrain

Swearing in public is generally frowned upon in Bahrain, especially in front of families, elders, or officials, and loud profanity can be taken as rude or provocative. In everyday conversation people tend to keep language restrained, and in more conservative settings—such as around mosques or during Ramadan—using coarse language is especially inappropriate.
