Smoking Etiquette in South Sudan

Smoking is generally tolerated in public in South Sudan, but it is best to avoid lighting up in crowded markets, shared transport, government offices, and around elders or religious gatherings unless you see others doing so. In many social settings, especially outside Juba, asking first and stepping away to smoke is the polite norm, and offering cigarettes can be a friendly gesture among men though not something to assume in formal company.
