Clothing Etiquette in South Sudan

Dress modestly, especially in towns and when visiting elders or religious gatherings: women commonly wear long skirts or dresses that cover the knees and shoulders, and men usually avoid very short shorts or sleeveless tops in public. In many communities, traditional dress such as the tobe for women and simple wrap or shirt-and-trouser styles for men is still respected, and bright ceremonial clothing may appear at weddings, dances, and other celebrations.
