Being on time is expected for business meetings, appointments, and formal social plans in Slovakia, and arriving more than a few minutes late without warning is usually seen as careless. For casual gatherings there is a little more flexibility, but if you are delayed it is polite to send a message in advance rather than simply turning up late.
