Tipping is appreciated for good service in hotels, restaurants, and by drivers or porters, but it is usually modest rather than expected at a fixed percentage. In Freetown and other urban areas, small cash tips are common when service is helpful, while in more informal settings people may simply round up the bill or offer a little extra as a gesture of thanks.
