Recycling Etiquette in Sierra Leone

Recycling is not yet a strong everyday norm in Sierra Leone, so travelers should not expect widespread sorting of waste or curbside collection in most places. In Freetown and a few larger towns, some hotels, NGOs, and private businesses separate plastics, cans, and paper, but outside those settings people usually rely on informal reuse, burning, or dumping, so it is best to carry your own trash until you find a proper disposal point.
