Swearing Etiquette in Serbia

Swearing is fairly common in casual Serbian conversation, especially among friends, and it can sound more like emphatic slang than a serious insult. In public or with strangers, though, strong profanity is still considered rude, and using it toward elders, officials, or in formal settings will make you seem crude.
