Always ask before photographing people, especially in rural communities, markets, and among Indigenous or Afro-Caribbean groups, because some may see it as intrusive or expect a small payment. It is usually fine to take pictures of streets, volcanoes, and colonial buildings, but be discreet around police, military sites, and private homes, where locals may object.
