Gender Norms Etiquette in Nicaragua

Public life in Nicaragua is still fairly traditional, so men are often expected to be assertive and women to be modest and family-focused, especially in smaller towns and older social circles. In cities and among younger people these expectations are softer, but travelers will still notice a strong emphasis on respectful behavior, conservative dress in formal settings, and clear separation of roles in many households.
