Public displays of affection are usually kept modest in Nicaragua, so holding hands or a quick kiss is generally fine, but prolonged hugging, heavy kissing, or overtly sexual behavior in public can draw uncomfortable attention. In smaller towns and among older or more traditional people, a reserved style is especially appreciated, while younger couples in cities may be a bit more relaxed.
