Bargaining Etiquette in New Zealand

Bargaining is generally not expected in New Zealand, especially in shops, supermarkets, and most service businesses where prices are fixed and clearly displayed. The main exceptions are private sales, car purchases, and some secondhand markets or rural auctions, where a polite, straightforward offer may be acceptable but hard-sell haggling is usually seen as pushy.
