Tipping in Latvia is modest and usually optional: in cafés and casual restaurants people often round up the bill or leave about 5–10% for good service, while in taxis and small services rounding up is more common than giving a large extra amount. In nicer restaurants, a service charge may already be included, so locals check the receipt first and only add more if the service was especially good.
