Bargaining is normal in markets, at roadside stalls, and with informal vendors, but it should be done politely and with a smile rather than aggressively. In tourist areas and for taxis or crafts, the first price is often inflated, so a brief back-and-forth is expected, while fixed-price shops and supermarkets usually do not haggle.
