Dining Etiquette in Tanzania

When dining in Tanzania, it is polite to wait to be shown a seat or invited to start eating, and to use your right hand for eating shared food, passing dishes, and giving or receiving items. In many homes and informal eateries, meals may be served family-style with ugali, rice, or nyama choma, and in Muslim areas during Ramadan you should avoid eating, drinking, or smoking in public during daylight hours.
