Bargaining is normal in Tanzania at markets, with street vendors, and for taxis or tour prices, but it should be done politely and with a smile rather than aggressively. In tourist areas people may start with a higher price and expect a counteroffer, while fixed-price shops, supermarkets, and many restaurants usually do not haggle.
