People in Slovenia generally value polite, understated behavior: greet others with a firm handshake, use titles and surnames until invited to be informal, and avoid loud or overly familiar conduct in shops, restaurants, and public transport. Punctuality is taken seriously, and in social settings it is normal to bring a small gift such as flowers or wine when invited to someone’s home, while shoes are often removed only if the host does so first.
