Always ask permission before photographing people, especially in villages, at ceremonies, or around traditional meeting houses, because many Palauans treat personal and community privacy seriously. In protected marine areas, on private land, and at cultural events, local hosts may also restrict cameras or ask for a small fee, so watch for signs and follow the lead of your guide or host.
