Alcohol is widely accepted in North Macedonia, and it is normal to drink beer, wine, or
rakija with meals, in cafés, and at family gatherings. In more conservative or rural settings, especially around religious occasions, it is polite to be discreet and not assume everyone drinks, but there is no broad social taboo around alcohol.
