Coffee & Tea Etiquette in Mauritania

Tea is the everyday social drink in Mauritania, and it is customary to accept at least one glass when offered, since refusing can seem unfriendly. Green tea is usually poured in a small, highly sweetened three-round ritual called ataya, with the host serving each round in tiny glasses and the foam and strength changing from one serving to the next.
