Gender Norms Etiquette in Madagascar

Men are generally expected to take the lead in public and family decision-making, while women often carry much of the household, childcare, and market work, especially in rural areas. In cities the roles are more flexible, but older family expectations and respect for elders still shape how openly people discuss gender roles.
