Dining Etiquette in Madagascar

Meals are usually relaxed and communal, and it is polite to wait to be invited to start eating, use your right hand when sharing food, and accept at least a little of what is offered. In many homes and rural settings, rice is the center of the meal and guests may be offered a simple dish such as romazava or ravitoto, with eating together seen as a sign of warmth and respect.
