Photography Etiquette in Kiribati

Always ask permission before photographing people, especially in villages, at community gatherings, or during church events, because many Kiribati residents consider unsolicited photos intrusive. It is also polite to avoid pointing a camera at elders, homes, or sacred places without a clear invitation, and on some outer islands people may expect a small gift or a friendly conversation first.
