Safety Etiquette in Italy

In Italy, safety is generally a matter of ordinary urban caution: keep an eye on your bag and phone in crowded stations, tourist sites, and on busy public transport, especially in big cities and around major attractions. Locals are used to petty theft more than violent crime, so a calm, alert approach is normal, and in some neighborhoods people avoid flashing valuables or leaving items unattended in cafes and cars.
