Avoid discussing politics, the conflicts in
Abkhazia and
South Ossetia, or making jokes about religion, because these topics can quickly become sensitive in conversation. It is also considered rude to insult a host’s food or refuse hospitality too bluntly, since Georgian гостеприимство is taken seriously and guests are expected to show respect even if they cannot eat or drink much.
