Public toilets are often basic, so carry tissues or a small pack of toilet paper and some hand sanitizer, and be prepared that many facilities use a bucket, hose, or squat-style setup rather than Western fixtures. In hotels and better restaurants you are more likely to find flush toilets, but in markets, bus stations, and rural areas it is normal to pay a small fee or buy something from the attendant to use the restroom.
