Tattoos Etiquette in Burkina Faso

Tattoos are generally uncommon and can draw curious or negative attention, especially among older people or in more traditional settings, so a visible tattoo may be read as a sign of rebellion or foreign influence. In cities and among younger Burkinabè they are becoming more accepted, but it is still wise to cover them for formal occasions, family visits, or when meeting elders and religious leaders.
