Bargaining is normal in markets, with prices for crafts, fabric, and souvenirs often expected to be negotiated politely before you buy. In fixed-price shops, supermarkets, and restaurants, however, haggling is usually not appropriate, and a friendly, patient tone works better than pushing hard.
