Photography Etiquette in Yemen

Always ask permission before photographing people, especially women, tribal elders, soldiers, and religious sites, because many Yemenis consider unsolicited photos intrusive or disrespectful. In conservative areas and around checkpoints or government buildings, taking pictures can draw suspicion or be refused outright, while in markets or public gatherings a polite request and a quick explanation usually makes people more comfortable.
