Bargaining is generally not expected in the United Kingdom, especially in shops, supermarkets, restaurants, taxis with meters, and most services where prices are fixed. The main exceptions are some markets, car boot sales, and private secondhand sales, where a polite, modest offer may be accepted, but aggressive haggling is usually seen as awkward or rude.
