Bargaining Etiquette in Togo

Bargaining is common in Togo’s markets, street stalls, and with informal taxi or moto-taxi fares, so it is normal to start with a lower offer and negotiate politely. In larger shops, supermarkets, and restaurants prices are usually fixed, but in open-air markets a friendly back-and-forth is expected and often part of the social interaction.
