Coffee is a point of pride in Timor-Leste, so offering or accepting a cup is a warm, normal gesture in homes and small cafés, and it is common to drink it strong and sweet. Tea is also widely served, but if you are invited in, it is polite to accept at least a small cup rather than refusing immediately, especially in rural or family settings where hospitality is taken seriously.
