Bargaining Etiquette in Netherlands

Bargaining is generally not expected in the Netherlands, especially in shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and taxis, where prices are usually fixed and asking for a discount can feel awkward. The main exceptions are flea markets, private secondhand sales, and some small independent sellers, where a polite, modest offer may be accepted if it is done casually and without pressure.
