Drinking Water Etiquette in Marshall Islands

Tap water is not always considered safe to drink in the Marshall Islands, so visitors usually rely on bottled water or water that has been boiled, filtered, or otherwise treated. On outer islands and in smaller settlements, water can be scarce and rain catchment is common, so it is polite to ask before using someone’s supply and to avoid wasting it.
