Dress modestly in public, especially outside the beach areas: loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees is the safest norm for both men and women, and very revealing outfits can draw unwanted attention. In everyday life many people wear a mix of modern clothes and traditional dress, and you will often see women in colorful wraps or headscarves and men in a macawiis or other loose garments, especially in more conservative neighborhoods and during religious occasions.
