Tipping Etiquette in Canada

Tipping is expected in most sit-down restaurants in Canada, usually around 15–20% before tax, and it is also common to tip bartenders, taxi drivers, hairdressers, and hotel staff for good service. In many places the bill may already suggest preset tip amounts on card terminals, and while tipping is less expected for counter service or takeout, leaving a small amount is still appreciated in more service-heavy settings.
